A Guide to Working and Leading Remotely
As we find ourselves in a bit of a kerfuffle, I thought it might be helpful to provide strategies for working effectively at home. As many of you know, 21 years ago I left public education to join a private company that had a culture of working remotely. Despite choosing this arrangement and being fully supported by the company, it was a difficult transition. There is often an assumption that working from home is like working from your school or district office, just in a different location; however, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Many practices need to change significantly to ensure you stay effective and healthy. Over the 21 years I’ve worked at home, I’ve developed a variety of strategies to enable me to manage myself and other people. With you all in mind, I decided to share these. I hope you find them helpful.
